Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of stomach acid produced by the stomach.
Nexium is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and heartburn. It is also used to treat symptoms of acid reflux (heartburn, acid regurgitation, or regurgitation of acid reflux medication) caused by a condition called acidosis or GERD.
